5.24.19 Another Space for Someone New (Poem, May 2019)

Another Space for Someone New

I know I need

Another space for someone new

But how can I

Go on when I’m without you

I know I need

Another face or new hairdo

But how can I

Even get up out of bed

Even get up out of bed

When the world is spinning

And everyone’s out there sinning

Grinding everything anything anyone

I don’t wanna be a part of this

Broken down world where I never win

I don’t wanna be a fledgling poet

A mr. nobody who’s too afraid to show it

I know I need

Another space for someone new

I know I need

To open my heart, but what can you do

When you’ve been tossed and tumbled

Hurt as much as me

Sometimes I get humbled

When I look in the mirror and see

Someone put together and 43

Who knows what he wants

And knows who he is

Sometimes I get excited

Just to think

I almost had it all

I was right there on the brink

Now my head is in the sink.
